Music.

It’s the one thing that can change in an instant to adapt to my current mood/vibe. Feeling big and bad… throw on some hardcore rap, want to mellow out, get pumped up, be a pop star, whatever, there’s bound to be a song for everything.

Because of my attachment with the beat, I ALWAYS workout with headphones whenever possible. The only issue I’ve always run into though has been swim workouts. I’ve searched high and low for swim capable MP3 players, but they all had the same issue. Noise isolation. Since converting over to Aftershokz years ago, I cannot stand to have a workout in which I’m unable to hear what’s going on around me for safety, and getting the good tea reasons. Because of this I was super happy to learn that Aftershokz would be debuting their own MP3 headphones… the XTrainerz… as in Cross Trainers!

How cute is that name!?

It really is a headphone made for cross training and you can take it to any type of workout. But I should stress that this isn’t a basic headphone, it’s actually has a built in MP3 player to go along with their famous bone conduction headphones. What this means is that there is not a bluetooth connection, therefore you are not phone dependent. So if you’re in an environment in which you can’t bring your phone (pool, rain, dead battery, etc.) this is the perfect option.

This was your standard headphone unboxing with all the items you expect to see.

  • Headphones
  • Case
  • Charger/USB Transfer Cable
  • Ear plugs

And real quick I’ll go through the basic stats of these as well… The headphones include a 8 hour battery life that’s partnered with a 4GB of memory for uploading all of the songs, audiobooks, podcasts, or whatever audio file you have. They are IP68 waterproof, with the open ear design and PremiumPitch 2 Stereo Sound.

Basically, they look great, sound great, last a long time, and have glitter (IMO) speckles.

But how do they work? Amazing. First you do have to upload files to it via computer, it’s a super easy drag and drop concept and took absolutely no time. I would just recommend having an idea of what songs you want, otherwise it’s a process trying to pick and choose.

And you’re ready to go. Remember, these don’t have bluetooth so you don’t have to waste time with trying to pair it to your device. Also bluetooth doesn’t work underwater anyways so it would be super pointless for these to have it.

Personally my first workout was a swim and I was NERVOUS. How many times have we been told to not put electronics in the water. Like a million. But I knew I had to, I have nothing but Fatih in the brand so I went for it. After just one lap, I was hooked. The sound was so clear, and the fit was perfect that they didn’t move the entire time.

It was beautiful. I actually swam much longer/farther than I had plan. I will say as a warning to not turn it up too much, because the sound was definitely louder once under the water versus above.

They just simply worked.

Running/Gym was great… just like my regular aftershokz so no changes there either.

Basically in a nutshell. It’s everything you already know and love about Aftershokz, just more waterproofing for swim, and a built in MP3 for storing music on.

So if you’re looking for a way to listen to music while participating in water activities, this is for you. OR if you’re just that type that still runs/trains with the iPod and headphones and you’re ready to cut the wires, this is also for you.

But don’t just take my word for it, check out the other BibRave Pro reviews below!
