Snacking on the Run!

It’s no big secret that I love snacks, and with every diet/lifestyle change I do… I always fall victim to snacks because I love them. Typically healthy snacks do require some sort of prep work wether it’s cutting fruits and veggies, or properly portioning out nuts and seeds, some sort of labor is involved. Food Groove Mission has changed that process with the introduction of their Super Food Bites.

I must say I was initially drawn to this product because it’s from a local company here in Dallas. Like most people, I do always try to support a local business whenever I possibly can. Also, I learned that the idea behind was more than just a healthy snack, but really for the active lifestyle which you can easily understand based on how easy it is to transport in a hydration pack, pocket, etc. and how it comes in a resealable bag so you don’t have to worry about mess for the portion you don’t eat.

I was sent a box that contained three flavors: Mother Earth (I got more of a fruity flavor from this), Holy Truffle Punch! (chocolate flavor), and The Nutty Adventurer (peanut butter flavor). Each pouch contains 10 bites which equals to one serving. It’s a very generous serving size, and yes there have been times in which I ate the whole bag (The Nutty Adventurer), and others in which I’ve had to pace myself a bit more and was thankful for the option to reseal.

The bites do hold their integrity when traveling in backpacks, purses, suitcases through TSA, Ragnar Vans (read Audi), and more. The bites also had a surprising crunch to them which was very welcomed in a world of mushy bars, and gummy chews. Furthermore they’re all made from natural, organic ingredients and just barely miss the mark of being vegetarian/vegan friendly since they do use honey, but again… it depends on what type of vegetarian you are, and it does eliminate those on a vegan diet.

But how did they taste? Delicious. I really enjoyed all the flavors, when I got these I was on a peanut butter kick so The Nutty Adventurer was the first to go, Mother Earth would have to be my top favorite because I loved the fruity notes to it, and Holy Truffle Punch! is last on my list only because I don’t really care for chocolate. Not only did I find that they were delicious, they really did help to hold me over until my next meal when either waiting for my next set of legs to run at Ragnar, errands, or just as something to chew to go along with a protein smoothie/shake.

I did venture out for these on a run and it was a welcomed addition to the rotation of gels, I would just eat one when waiting at a stoplight or whatever to avoid the dreaded wall, and to stop me from become hangry like I normally do on long runs.

Overall, I was very impressed by the product Food Groove Mission has created and it made proud to be a Texan lol. I would recommend this to anyone who’s looking for a raw snack that’s easy to consume, but also carry.
