So, I’m not a vegan, but I
do try to minimize the amount of animal products that I consume due to some
persuasion that my recently transformed vegan brother has laid on me. Now, let
me say that I typically don’t use protein powders for the purpose of bulking up
or post workout recoveries (that’s what chocolate milk is for), but for weight
loss/management purposes. I do like to have protein shakes for meal
replacements with fruit or a salad for breakfast or lunch. Because of this I
was really excited to try out Everlast VP (Vegan Protein) so that I could have
more options available to me.
My first time to try this
powder was as a regular ol’ vanilla shake (Everlast VP, ice, and unsweetened almond milk) after a very
hot, and hilly painful run. I didn’t get a picture because I just wanted
something cold in my body, like now. The flavor was there, the textures not so
much, and I have major sensory issues when it comes to textures.
Fortunately I got another sample and was able to test this out in a new way. I decided to try it as a meal replacement for my breakfast after a morning run. I powered up the Ninja, added in some fresh blueberries, frozen strawberries, frozen peaches, Everlast VP, and a splash of almond milk. It looked great, smelled great, tasted pretty good but the texture just wasn’t for me.
Honestly though, is there
really a such thing as a perfect protein powder? At the end of the day they’re
all going to have their pros and their cons so if you’re vegetarian or vegan
and looking for a way to add in some protein to your life, this is definitely the
way to go. Also, Everlast has some great promotions going on as well, which
includes free stuff (I LOVE FREE STUFF):
* Free Everlast Shaker when you buy Everlast VP or two Fuel
* Free Shipping on orders over $20 (Most places require $50)
* Save 5% with the code ERICARUNS
